Raisonance was founded in 1988 and is located near Grenoble (France) in the French Alps. Its first location was in Crolles. In November 2003 Raisonance was re-located to a new office in Montbonnot. Raisonance designs and manufactures Development Systems divided in two main activities: Microcontroller / SoC and Smart Cards, offering complete solutions to the embedded system developers and Silicon Partners; Raisonance is one of the few tools suppliers to develop both hardware and software: this guarantees a single interface, efficiency and smooth integration.

Microcontroller / SoC
The microcontroller Development Tools include Compilers, Simulators, High Level Language Debuggers, Real Time Operating Systems, Integrated Development Environment, Evaluation Boards, Serial Protocol dongles, Starter-Kits and Real Time In-Circuit Emulators. Supported target architectures include 8051 from several manufacturers, XA from NXP (Philips), ST7, STR7, STR9, ST6 and ST5 from STMicroelectronics, C816 from Xemics and EM Microelectronics. Raisonance specializes in 8 and 16 bit microcontrollers with emphasis on ease of use and performance.

Smart Cards
The Smart Card products include Card Development Tools for microcontrollers (from Philips and Inside Contactless) and since 2005 a contactless Reader / Analyzer (ProxiLAB) which constitutes an innovative product dedicated to a new market for Raisonance.

Innovation
In 1995 Raisonance was one of the first companies to offer a completely integrated development environment (today called RIDE which stands for Raisonance Integrated Development Environment): continuously evolving since, Today RIDE offers features that are either unique or first launched by Raisonance on its market, like Multi Processor simulation, Peripheral Development Kit and CodeCompressor post-linker optimizing technology, use of Script.

Business
Raisonance's business consists of contract development and commercial product sales which account respectively for about 45% and 55% of revenues. In years 2002 and 2003, despite the electronic market downturn, Raisonance experienced solid growth in revenues (>1M euro) and earnings.
In 2004 Raisonance invested a lot in Research and Development especially in ProxiLAB to always give users higher quality tools.
